goodwood revival

The Goodwood Revival is a calendar event that the Redline team await in anticipation every year.  It’s one of the best celebrations of classic cars and motor racing in the UK, and globally. This year will be no different as some 150,000 motoring enthusiasts descend on Goodwood for a three day festival of all things historic motor racing, on 11th – 13th September.

The highlight for us this year has to be the Revival’s celebration of the 50th Anniversary of the Shelby Daytona Coupe.

Goodwood will mark 50-years since the debut of one of the most iconic GT cars of all time with a never-before-seen collection of the V8 racers.

Just six Daytona Coupes were ever produced and all of them are set to appear at the Revival. Two will race in the showpiece RAC Tourist Trophy on the Sunday, while all six will take part in a special demonstration run on each day.

The six Daytona Coupes, along with other significant Shelby Cobras will be housed in a special area within the main paddock, which will be dressed to resemble the pitlane of the 1965 Sebring 12 Hours for this very special celebration. It is sure to be an event highlight.

And talking of the RAC Tourist Trophy, this is the pinnacle race for us at the event, taking place on Sunday.  A field of closed-top GT classics from between 1960-64 will be driven by some of the most skilled drivers on the classic circuit, which this year includes the most successful Le Mans racing driver of all time, Tom Kristensen.

2015’s grid is estimated to be worth more than £150million, with key models including the AC Cobra, Ferrari 250 GTO, Jaguar E-type and Aston Martin project cars.  We will be seeking a prime position to watch the race and will be team AC Cobra all the way.

Bonhams Auction at the Revival just got a little more interesting. Already set to serve up its usual broad selection of highly desirable motor cars, it’s been announced that Goodwood regular, avid car collector, and the next presenter of Top Gear, Chris Evans is to sell 13 cars from his collection, six of them Ferraris. Apparently he’s ‘refreshing his collection’.

In the absence of any AC’s on the list you can always contact the Redline sales team for news of our latest stock.

Amongst these highlights, we will just revel in what is always an action-packed weekend of historic motor racing as the golden era of motor sport from the 1950’s and 1960’s is recreated once again.
