We were no stranger to this wonderful classic Jaguar E-Type, or its new owner, when we were asked to complete a full restoration and series of upgrades.
Just months previously he had purchased the car from us, keen to secure a correct UK built E-Type roadster with all matching numbers. One of our existing clients pointed him in our direction and we had the ideal car for him about to go under restoration work. It provided a great opportunity for our talented team to put their usual AC restoration skills to another marque of Classic Car, and him the chance to alter the restoration brief to his own specific requirements.
Whilst the original 1968 car was in good condition body work and mechanically extremely sound, the new owner had aspirations to complete upgrades to the car to create an enhanced specification and fully restored body colour and interior trim.
Happy to oblige our expert restoration team collaborated with him to create a restoration brief which would see the car fully restored to its original glory, along with some modern touches to enhance the driving experience.
First-up was a back to bare metal full body restoration, rectifying any bodywork issues before the car was re-painted to an original an eye-catching Dark Blue Jaguar colour.
Inside a complete new trim would complement the new exterior. Dark blue carpets were installed to the floors and the Jaguars sports seats were meticulously finished in beautiful French Blue leather.
Mechanically the car was sound, however with the vehicle apart we took the opportunity to upgrade the brakes, adding electric power steering and suspension to ensure the cars long-term peak performance.
Final touches included a new leather dash and door trims to match the French Blue interior, and a classic look DAB radio with an iPod Bluetooth hands free unit and charging power point.
The finished E-Type left the workshop purring, with all the finesse and Jaguar style worthy of such a beautiful classic car.
