Jaguar E Type S1.5 DHC offered for sale by Redline Engineering UK.

The most desirable of all Jaguar cars the Jaguar E Type S1.5 Roadster.

First registered 15th May 1968, not mistaking this vehicle as a export but A original RHD UK car, with 32,300 miles from new.  A matching numbers example finished in it’s original colour “Pale Primrose yellow” with black interior with A black retractable hood.

A brief history as I know it. By previous owner “David Markland”

Bought new from H.R.Owen, Supplied by Henleys of London, Trident Systems ltd and run by Raymond Weston as his car.

He then bought the car from the firm in November 1972. He sold it to Nancy Guy in 1974 when the mileage was 25,893 who was the girlfriend of Stephen Ervin who eventually, after running the car for a number of years, decided to take the car off the road in 1985 when the mileage was 30,367.

He stripped the car down and boxed all the components and set out about having the body sprayed top and bottom.

This was completed and boxes of bits were slowly restored, shot blasted, painted and stove enamelled.

He never completed the car and this how Roger Mathews acquired the car in January 1999.

The paintwork had crazed and needed stripping and repainting and this was completed by Days garage in Whitstable. The paint was picked off the car with a stanley blade and they didn’t want to disturb the original leadwork.

This process took them 18 months between other jobs. No welding was involved and the only thing they found was a welded patch under the petrol tank, presumably cut to gain access for something.

At this time the boxes were assessed and the car was found to be pretty well complete and original and the speedo showed 30,000 miles approximately.

The engine was converted by Gill of Gill Enginerring in Herne Bay to run on unleaded and found all the original build tabs and noted the fact that the engine had never been apart before. He refitted the head and timed up the engine. 123 electronic ignition was also fitted.

The gearbox was stripped and checked as was the rear differential, both were found to be fine and only gaskets and seals were replaced.

The brakes were rebuilt as required with new pistons and seals to the callipers. New master cylinder, rebuilt servo etc.

The rest of the suspension and running gear were reinstated with new bushes etc.

The interior was left largely original with the exception of the hood and carpets, which were replaced with new.

Once complete the car went to Maidstone sports cars who fitted new torsion bars, windscreen, various nuts and bolts and also set up the suspension and tracking etc.

New wire wheels and 205 tyres were fitted at the time.

Various items were re-chromed, a kenlowe fan fitted to the recored radiator. Shock absorbers were changed to Koni adjustable. A new solid state fuel pump.

Roger then ran the car for the next fifteen years using it sparingly and this is when he sold the car to David Markland (Me)

The car is matching numbers and besides the patch under the fuel tank has never been welded and is as it left Browns Lanes.

History

A beautifully presented history file indexed all the way through, on file is the old original Green vehicle log book, A Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate confirming colour, chassis and engine numbers, old MOT’S dating back to 1974 (17 on file) old invoices bill and various correspondence, sales invoices for parts and work completed, old TAX disc’s, Service invoice from Brooklands Motorsport. 3 former owners.
