The 5 Most Famous, Classic Car-Obsessed British Celebrities

Celebrities the world over have a passion for vintage cars, with many owning huge collections of them and employing their very own engineers and mechanics to look after their fleet! Let’s count down our 5 most famous, classic car-obsessed British celebrities! Here goes…

Five…

In at number 5 is our favourite reality TV legend, Mr Simon Cowell. In his time he has been regularly spotted driving around London and Surrey in classic cars such as the Bugatti Veyron, a Porsche Speedster and a Jaguar E-Type. Known to be a classic car fanatic, luckily Simon’s got the budget to match!

Four…

Jay Kay, aka Jaimiroquai is at number 4. He’s famous for his brilliant music of course, but he’s nearly as well-known for his huge collection of rare vintage cars. He is reported to own beauties such as a Mercedes-Benz 300SL Roadster, a BMW 2002 Bauer Cabriolet and a Porsche 911 2.7 RS. What he’ll go for next is anyone’s guess, but we’ve heard a rumour that he is the proud owner of an Aston Martin DB6 Mark 1 Volante – which can’t have come cheap as there are only 185 in existence!

Three…

Blackadder and Mr Bean may not be your typical classic car fans, Mr Bean favouring his clapped out old yellow Mini, but their creator Rowan Atkinson is crazy about luxury classic cars. A regular on Top Gear, Atkinson owns amongst other things an Aston Martin V8 Vantage and a McLaren F1. We think that more than qualifies him to occupy the number 3 spot in our chart!

Two…

Steve Coogan is our second-most favourite classic car enthusiast. The British-born actor, comedian, producer and screenwriter has a string of hits under his belt, most notably the cringe-inducing Alan Partridge. But in real life he’s far cooler, being the proud custodian of a Porsche Carrera 4. He’s also owned a rare 1961 Jaguar E-Type, an Aston DBS V8 from 1970 and a succession of Ferraris (although he’s since given the Ferraris up as he realised with depreciation and maintenance costs that it would be cheaper to hire a private jet!).

One…

In at the top of our famous British classic car fanatics is the now-legendary DJ and TV presenter Chris Evans. Known for presenting famous shows such as TFI Friday and the BBC Radio 2 Breakfast Show, Evans makes no secret of his obsession with classic cars such as Ferraris, and he even has one in his collection (a Ferrari 250GT California Spyder) that was previously owned by Hollywood icon Steve McQueen. Chris is such a petrolhead he even went to the lengths of creating a festival dedicated to celebrating classic cars – CarFest. We think that makes him more than deserving of his place at number 1!
